Mr. Taneja is currently President of GSFC University and also Director General, Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management, Gandhinagar (Gujarat) and Director with SAARC Disaster Management Centre.
Mr. Taneja has a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Electronics and Communications from Indian Institute of Technology – Roorkee, India. He joined Indian Administrative Services in 1984. He worked with Government of Gujarat as Additional Chief Secretary of Industries and Mines Department, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department, Additional Chief Secretary of Forest and Environment Department and several other assignments at senior administrative positions with Government of India, Government of Gujarat including MD/CEO of several Government of Gujarat Public Sector Undertakings.
Having worked in various departments, like - Industries & Mines, Home, Forest & Environment, Chemicals and Fertilizers, Energy, Water Supply departments, Electronics and Information Technology, Health, in Gujarat State and Government of India, he has allowed him to gain varied and valuable experience. He has also led Gujarat Public Sector companies as Managing Director, Chairman and Director for more than a decade. Some of them are - GSFC, GACL, GSECL, GUUNL and Bhavnagar Energy Company limited (BECL) now merged with Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL).
The above varied experience helps him in understanding the demands of today’s workplace in Indian context and requirements in context of education that an institution of higher learning has to imbibe in its students to make them industry ready.
His hands-on multifaceted experience is an asset for university in its foray to make 100% student Industry ready, to improve their chances of employability.
